  Rivet nuts are divided into pull rivet nuts and press rivet nuts. These two tools are not unfamiliar to industrial workers, but many customers do not understand the specific differences between the two and which tool to choose for their own enterprises when consulting.   Those familiar with the fastener industry know that rivet nuts, also known as pull caps or instant pull caps, are mainly used in the fastening field of various metal sheets, pipes, and other manufacturing industries. Currently, they are widely used in the assembly of electromechanical and light industrial products such as automobiles, aviation, railways, refrigeration, elevators, switches, instruments, furniture, and decoration. It was developed to solve the disadvantages of metal sheet and thin tube welding nuts being prone to melting and threads being prone to slipping. It does not require tapping internal threads, nor does it require welding nuts. It has high efficiency in riveting and is also very convenient to use.

  When should I choose a rivet nut and when should I use a pull rivet nut? This depends on whether the applicable conditions are suitable. The so-called "suitable conditions" refer to the use of rivet nuts when the thickness of the construction board meets the parameter range of the corresponding specifications, and vice versa. Generally, situations where the conditions are not suitable include but are not limited to the following four situations:

  1. The construction board is too thin, such as only 0.5 millimeters, or too thick;

  2. When only two types of boards need to be fixed together;

  3. The construction space environment does not allow the use of riveting equipment. For example, if the board itself has a certain special shape or curvature, the irregular shape of the board cannot be positioned on the riveting machine, or the bent part of the board cannot be placed on the riveting machine, it is recommended to use rivet nuts instead of rivet nuts.

  4. It should be noted that under the same specifications and plate thickness conditions, the tensile strength of rivet nuts is usually higher than that of rivet nuts, but the specific performance needs to be evaluated based on practical applications.

  Rivet nut, also known as self fastening nut, is a type of nut used on thin plates or sheet metal. It has a circular shape with embossed teeth and guide grooves on one end. The principle is to press the pre drilled holes into the sheet metal through embossed teeth. Generally speaking, the diameter of the pre drilled holes is slightly smaller than that of the embossed teeth of the rivet nut. By applying pressure, the flower teeth of the rivet nut are squeezed into the plate, causing plastic deformation around the hole. The deformed object is squeezed into the guide groove, thereby producing a locking effect.

  ● Flat head rivet nut

  The cylindrical part is divided into two types: smooth surface and vertical pattern. The vertical pattern type rivet nut is commonly used in the production process because its vertical pattern can provide anti slip effect. In the later stage of riveting, the head is exposed to the thin plate, and the flat head rivet nut is also a commonly used and firm type of rivet nut.

  ● countersunk rivet nut

  Divided into smooth and vertical patterns, it is riveted into a thin plate with chamfers. After installation, its head surface is parallel to the surface of the thin plate. Materials available include galvanized iron, 304 stainless steel, and 316 stainless steel rivet nuts.

  ● Small countersunk rivet nut

  The materials include galvanized iron, 304 stainless steel, and 316 stainless steel. The small countersunk rivet nut has a smaller outer diameter and thickness than the countersunk rivet nut at the head. If the sheet metal is relatively thin and the chamfer is small or not made, only the small countersunk rivet nut can be used.

  ● Hexagonal rivet nut

  The material is also divided into galvanized iron, 304 stainless steel, 316 stainless steel, and the supplied specifications are M3-M12. The hexagonal rivet nut is divided into flat head hexagonal rivet nut and small head hexagonal rivet nut, which are installed in the hexagonal bottom hole. Due to its hexagonal shape, it can completely prevent slipping and withstand greater torque. After testing, even if the thread is damaged, the hexagonal rivet nut can still be firmly riveted on the thin plate. Its installation method is exactly the same as that of ordinary circular rivet nuts, except that when punching the bottom hole, it needs to be punched into a suitable hexagonal hole.

  ● Pull rivet nut

  Applied to railways, refrigeration, elevators, switches, etc. If the nut of a certain product needs to be installed on the outside and the space inside is narrow, making it impossible for the rivet head of the riveting machine to enter for riveting and the methods such as sprouting cannot meet the strength requirements, then riveting and expanding riveting are not feasible. Definitely use rivets. Suitable for fastening various thicknesses of plates and pipes (0.5MM-6MM) in the field. The use of pneumatic or manual riveting guns allows for one-time riveting, making it convenient and secure; Replace traditional welding nuts to compensate for the shortcomings of metal sheets, thin pipes that are prone to melting during welding, and welding nuts that are not smooth.
