  In daily life and industrial applications, we often encounter situations where some sheet metal parts are thin and cannot be assembled and connected through punching and tapping. At this point, the welding nut came in handy. It melts and mixes metals at high temperatures, and then solidifies through cooling, forming strong molecular forces that enable the two separate components to be firmly connected into a whole. Its strength usually exceeds that of the parent material, ensuring the stability of the connection. Welded nuts are widely used in various fields such as automotive seats, sheet metal chassis/cabinets, ships, railways, etc. They are an indispensable part of mechanical parts that transmit motion or power.

  The difference between welded nuts and ordinary nuts

  Welding nuts, especially hexagonal welding nuts, play an important role in mechanical connections. They typically have three or four solder joints on one side, as well as a circular protrusion for positioning. This protrusion is designed for accurate positioning on the parent body, while the solder joints ensure a secure connection between the nut and the parent body.

  

  When using welded nuts, we need to pay attention to several key issues to ensure the stability and efficiency of the connection. These key points include: correctly selecting and applying different types of welding nuts, such as four corner or hexagonal designs, to meet different mechanical connection requirements; Ensure accurate punching of the positioning hole so that the protrusion of the nut can be accurately positioned on the hole; And using equipment such as spot welding machines, firmly weld the nut onto the base to ensure the stability of the connection.

  The protective gas used during the welding process is argon gas.

  2. The length of tungsten protruding from the gas nozzle should be appropriate to ensure welding quality.

  3. The power supply should adopt vertical external characteristics, and it is recommended to use positive polarity (welding wire connected to negative pole) for DC.

  Before welding, it is necessary to clean the welding area of impurities such as rust and oil stains to prevent the formation of welding pores.

  5. This technology is suitable for welding thin plates below 6mm, with beautiful weld formation and small welding deformation.

  6. When welding in a windy environment, protective measures should be taken; And indoors, appropriate ventilation is needed to maintain air circulation.

  When welding ordinary steel, the arc length should be 24mm; When welding stainless steel, it is best to use 13mm to avoid poor protection effect.

  To ensure that argon gas can effectively protect the welding pool and facilitate operation, the angle between the tungsten centerline and the workpiece should be kept within the range of 80-85 °, and the angle between the filler wire and the workpiece surface should be as small as possible, about 10 °.

  There are various material choices for welding nuts, among which carbon steel and stainless steel are the two mainstream. Carbon steel welded nuts are usually presented in their natural color, while stainless steel is mainly made of 304 material. Of course, not all sheet metal processing is suitable for using welded nuts. Due to the high temperature generated during the welding process, the original connecting parts may deform, and the welded components cannot be easily disassembled, so their use is limited to some extent. In addition, some reactive metals cannot be welded by conventional methods, and the welding slag generated after welding can also affect the aesthetic appearance of the product. Therefore, when choosing whether to use welded nuts, it must be determined based on the specific process design.
